A couple of urgent updates for the region this evening
An urgent repair is required for the M5 at the junction 2 (southbound) area Repair #1 Will probably start at about 4.30pm (start time could slip by up to 20 minutes) – this closure will then be followed by materials being poured and take about 90 minutes to cure Disruption - This will mean that you cannot exit the M5 (Oldbury) and will either need to leave earlier at junction 1 (West Bromwich) or travel to junction 3 (Quinton) Repair #2 Then at about 7.00pm this evening we will need to undertake a second repair on the main carriageway – again this closure is expected to take 90 minutes to cure Disruption - This will mean that you will need to exit the M5 southbound at jct 2, travel part way around the island before being able to re-join the M5 via the on-slip for the onward southbound journey We need to complete this work before the M6 jct 6 to 8 closure is installed again tonight, as part of the Rushall Viaduct Emergency Works Salting the network this afternoon You will probably have seen the forecast for the colder weather returning to the region – as a consequence a number of Highway partners will be out in force putting salt down on the roads this evening and tonight o Highways England – we started at 3pm and have planned a further treatment starting at midnight o Birmingham start at 6pm o Dudley start at 6pm o Sandwell start at 6.30pm o Walsall start at 6.30pm These are all precautionary treatments for an expected dip in the temperature from about 11pm tonight and through till daylight – so you could be scraping windscreens in the morning Kind regards Celia Davis Stakeholder Liaison Manager Working on behalf of Highways England
